1. What motivated you to join Citryll a year ago?
The key motivation was the science and the data supporting it. If you couple that with a very humble but motivated team and a very supportive Board, you have the ingredients to bring something truly innovative and transformational to patients.
2. Tell us one thing that surprised you about Citryll after you joined the team?
It is difficult to name only one thing, but I believe the word “team” has real meaning at Citryll. I have been lucky in the past to be a part of very nice teams, some of which I created. However, the team spirit is tremendous here, and it is very impressive how professional, driven and collaborative each and everyone at Citryll is.
3. How would you describe the culture at Citryll?
Very open and non-hierarchical. Everyone has a voice, and everyone understands what we are trying to achieve and how their work contributes towards the common goal. And we all have a great deal of resilience, one of the most critical skills in our industry!
4. What milestones have been achieved over the past 12 months?
We have accomplished a lot during this past year and much of this started well before I joined. If I had to name a few achievements to celebrate, they would be: publishing an important manuscript on lead candidate CIT-013’s unique dual mode of action which generated a lot of recognition, completing the team with the recruitment of Maarten Kraan as Chief Medical Officer, finalising both a toxicology study with favourable outcomes and our phase 1 clinical trial, and receiving a term sheet from blue chip investors to fund the company’s plans moving forward.
5. What achievements can we expect over the next 12 months?
A year from now we will have the final results of our phase 1 study and we should be well on our way with recruitment into our two proof of concept studies, with a full team in place to support the new programs. I am very much looking forward to my second year at Citryll!
